Follow the Law
All events and discussions must comply with Norwegian law. We do not support illegal activity.
Name or Nickname
Use a name or nickname so other members know how to address you. An emoji alone is not acceptable.
Profile Picture
A WhatsApp profile picture is mandatory and must not be left blank. Choose a picture that feels like you.
Egalitarian Principle — Core Rule
All members are equal. The same rules and standards apply to everyone without exception.
Admin Authority
Admins will intervene immediately when needed to maintain order or stop disruption. Admin decisions are final and are not subject to discussion.
Conduct
Clear harassment, threats and obvious personal attacks are violations. Other communication is allowed and is not actively moderated.
About Events
Every community member can join or create an event on WhatsApp. Creating events in the browser app requires organiser access. Hosts set the plan, rules, structure and capacity for the events they organise.

Every community member can join or create an event on WhatsApp. Creating events in the browser app requires organiser access.
The host sets the plan, rules, structure and number of attendees for their events. Getting on a waiting list does not mean discrimination or exclusion. All suggestions are welcome, but the last word sits with the host.
Hosts invest their time to make events happen. Check the event colour and description to see whether payment is required.
Bookings and attendance
For events using website bookings, follow the event link and book at socialoslo.no/events with your name and email—no account needed. Selecting “Going” on WhatsApp, Meetup or another platform does not reserve your place for those events. The website does not import registrations from other platforms.
You can still create events and sign up directly in WhatsApp as usual. Website booking is only needed when the event post asks you to book at socialoslo.no/events.
If you cannot attend, cancel your booking or update your response so the host knows who to expect. Attendance strikes and inactivity removals have been removed. Community rules about behaviour and respect still apply.

You do not need to respond to every event that appears. These rules only apply when you sign up for an event that you would like to participate in.
Event makers must use 🟡, 🟢 or 🔵 when creating an event. The meaning of each symbol is explained here.
Green — Free events
Free to join. You may still pay for your own coffee, food or other personal purchases.
If you can’t attend, please cancel your booking or update your response so the host knows who to expect.
Yellow — Paid events
Some events have an entry fee. Others require a deposit that you get back when you attend.
If you cancel or don’t attend, you may not get your payment or deposit back. Read the event details for payment, cancellation and refund rules.
Blue — Information only
The person posting is sharing the event, not hosting it.
Check the event’s own details for prices, booking and other information.
WhatsApp notes
- ✅ New members cannot see WhatsApp events created before they joined the group. Upcoming events published at socialoslo.no/events can be viewed regardless of when you joined WhatsApp.
- ✅ Make sure you have read the Community Rules before joining an event.
- ✅ Keep chat to group-related events and talking points.
